A FEW RAMBLING THOUGHTS ON THE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL SLATE, THE PRESIDENT, AND ECONOMIC STIMULUS

Obama started campaigning shortly after the 2010 elections, and he’s made it clear that he’s running against CONGRESS.  He’s been clever by putting forth ideas that HE KNOWS the Republicans won’t go for.  Then he sends out dupes like Dick Durbin who whine and say that the Republicans want to give tax breaks to the rich while NOT extending the payroll tax for ‘working families’.

First of all – do those on the left think the RICH don’t work?  The other thing Obama did was give workers the payroll tax holiday.  That’s a double edged sword – it does reward people who actually have a job because it reduces the dollars withheld from their paychecks.  But since the payroll tax funds Social Security, it’s simply going to make THAT entitlement go bankrupt sooner.  And there isn’t much evidence that the economy is being stimulated by the payroll tax holiday.  I think the Republicans will vote to extend it – it would be political suicide to do otherwise.

As for Obama’s opponents next fall…

BECAUSE Obama’s in campaign mode, and BECAUSE his BFF David Axelrod has been ‘working’ on Obama’s re-election campaign for some time…. there has been a flood of money into the economy.  Think back…. Early on, they were sure that Sarah Palin would jump in, so Axelrod sent scores of Palin-tologists to Alaska to dig thru her emails.  Now that’s not cheap, considering flights, accommodations, and payoffs.  I’m still waiting to see what they’ve uncovered.

You can’t really say Axelrod took out Perry – he sorta did that all by himself.  I like Perry but America isn’t ready for another Texas governor as president – especially another one who has trouble articulating his positions.  So they went after Cain.

The left’s biggest problem with Cain is that he’s black.  It’s really hard to nail your opponent as a racist when he’s blacker than you are.  There are all sorts of names you CAN call him but they aren’t suitable for print.  So they started digging into Cain’s background.  Notice that, while Cain has never lived in Chicago, most of these women who have come forward live there?  Wonder how much Axelrod has spent on THAT search.  The general thought is that Cain will be out soon.  Last night Bachmann’s campaign tweeted that there were trucks at Cain’s Iowa HQ…
Urbandale, Iowa (CNN) -- Michele Bachmann's Iowa campaign manager is "really sorry" for a tweet sent out Tuesday evening by a Bachmann aide claiming there were moving trucks outside Herman Cain's Iowa headquarters.
Bachmann Iowa campaign chairman and state Sen. Kent Sorenson tweeted that info on Twitter, and included a picture.
Turns out, the Cain presidential campaign staff was receiving a shipment of boxes that included about 3,000 yard signs.  Bachmann shot herself in the foot again.  Still, Cain himself has said he’s re-evaluating his run because of the stresses it’s caused on his family.  Apparently Axelrod is getting a return on his investment.

And now, poor David is going to have to start digging into Newt.  I’m sure they wrote him off months ago, as did many of us, but now he’s giving Mitt some serious competition.  Newt has a long and colorful career, both in government and in the private sector but hopefully all his dirty laundry is already out there.  If Newt were a Democrat, the left and the MSM would say ”That’s his personal life and should not be part of a campaign”  But I’m sure the digging has begun and Newt’s women will start coming out of the woodwork.

The Obama team has been gearing up for a run against Romney for a year – they have hung everything on him being the candidate.  Does anyone find it curious that NOTHING negative has come out on Romney?  Whatever they have on Mitt won’t come out until he’s the nominee.  For sure they will nail him on healthcare and that will NOT be a campaign issue.  But never doubt – Axelrod has more and they are saving it.

So… we can THANK Axelrod for all the spending – detectives and reporters aren’t cheap.  One positive sign for the right is that Obama’s fundraising is a bit lower than projected – it would be nice if he had a primary challenge, but that’s a pipe dream.

The campaigner-in-chief DOES have a new money train, though.  His team has put together a website where you can do all your Christmas shopping!  You can buy Obama golf balls, spatulas, martini glasses – even soy candles and yoga pants.  President Obama has just what you need — a “Fired up and Ready to Grill” apron, a six-pack presidential cooler, and a nifty Commander-in-Chief cutting board to chop up your White House veggies.  Be still, my heart!  I guess this is Obama’s venture into private enterprise, so he can add that to his resume.

NEWT CAN BEAT OBAMA!

LISTEN TO THIS VIDEO!  Newt Gingrich is the ONLY one in the race who KNOWS WHO THE ENEMY IS AND HAS THE BRAINPOWER (and the stones) TO DEFEAT HIM!

http://www.newt.org/

Now go to his website and help him win!  Romney and Perry have all the $$$$.... and NEITHER has the stones to go for the jugular.  Newt is brilliant and articulate and HE KNOWS HOW OBAMA HAS DAMAGED THIS NATION!

2012 is about the judges!  There are FOUR sitting SCOTUS judges that were born in the 30's...... Obama has made TWO appointments - one to buy the Latino vote and one to keep Obamacare legal!  WE CAN'T LET HIM MAKE FOUR MORE APPOINTMENTS!  It would take two generations to undo what a SCOTUS can do when it LEGISLATES.  The Constitution says it's the CONGRESS WHO MAKES LAWS - not the Supreme Court!  We have GOT to reverse the trend of the courts legislating via precedents!  We need Constitutionalists on the court!

Almost everything Obama has done can be UNdone - except for lifetime judicial appointments!  PLEEEEEEEEASE spread the word and get behind someone who can send the Obama's PACKING!

WHY YOUNG PEOPLE SHOULD BE CONSERVATIVE

LIBERAL-SPEAK: GREEN = MONEY

I believe in global warming….. and global cooling.  It’s called climate change.  Since the earth was formed there have been periods of global warming and global cooling that span hundreds of thousands of years.  Believe it or not, this actually occurred before the invention of the automobile.  It’s also been shown that calling a naturally occurring compound, such as carbon dioxide, a ‘greenhouse’ gas, causes heart palpitations in the liberal breast, and also loosens the purse strings of governments large and small.  The gasping and panting of the left DOES increase CO but fortunately there are green plants which, unbeknownst to liberals, use COto in the process of photosynthesis, converting it to OXYGEN, which some people believe is necessary for most animal life.  The contribution of civilization to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is 3% of 3% of 3% of all the CO2  generated.

A new batch of 5,000 emails among scientists central to the assertion that humans are causing a global warming crisis were anonymously released to the public yesterday, igniting a new firestorm of controversy nearly two years to the day after similar emails ignited the Climategate scandal.
Three themes are emerging from the newly released emails: (1) prominent scientists central to the global warming debate are taking measures to conceal rather than disseminate underlying data and discussions; (2) these scientists view global warming as a political “cause” rather than a balanced scientific inquiry and (3) many of these scientists frankly admit to each other that much of the science is weak and dependent on deliberate manipulation of facts and data.

GAME – SET – MATCH!

THE BEST SOUND BITE OF LAST NIGHT’S DEBATE…

As the left continues to prop up Ron Paul, froot loop extraordinaire, anyone watching last night’s debate knows now for sure that he’s clueless.  In a two man discussion with Newt on how to deal with terrorism vs. criminals, Paul alleged that ‘look how we dealt with Timothy McVeigh – the law did what it was supposed to do – and it worked fine.’

In a split screen with Newt looking at him like WTH… Wolf Blitzer asked Newt if he would like to respond.  Newt made a hand gesture as if to slough off Paul, shook his head…. And then looked at Paul incredulously and said:  ‘McVeigh WON!”  Loooooong pause for effect before the crowd started to cheer.

Ron Paul has a good understanding of the Constitution, and perhaps better than some of the other candidates.  But the man is fundamentally lacking in any knowledge of how today’s world actually functions.

Here’s the link to the CNN clip on the Patriot Act:  (Newt was brilliant as usual!)

YAAAAAAA - OIL DRILLING RESUMES IN THE GULF…… OOPS….. NEVERMIND

Yes – drilling in the Gulf of Mexico is resuming as we speak - the only problem is, it’s China doing the drilling!  The United States will get any oil spills and greenhouse gasses.  But since Obama has stopped all AMERICAN drilling, we can only sit idly by and watch resources along OUR coast be harvested by the Communists! [BP DID get a permit for EXPLORATORY drilling last monty.]

U.S. geologists believe there may be 5 billion barrels of oil down there. Cuban studies estimate the total at four times that, enough to put the island on par with mid-size energy exporters in the region like Ecuador and Colombia.

A major oil strike could rescue Cuba’s struggling socialist system from its financial woes, giving the Castro government access to new credit and a potentially lucrative industry.

The new Chinese-constructed well, being delivered and set up by the REPSOL, a Spanish energy company, will puncture the sea floor in Cuban-controlled waters just 60 miles off the Florida Keys, not far from a protected coastline where offshore drilling is banned under U.S. law.

Six wells are planned to be drilled with this rig by the various international companies who own exploration rights off the north shore of the island of Cuba.  Drilling is scheduled to begin this month.

Closer to home, the Obama administration delayed a decision on the controversial project around the Keystone pipeline until after the 2012 election.  Most of the GOP field has embraced the project.

When Sean Hannity asked Perry about the Keystone XL pipeline on the radio Tuesday, Perry blasted Obama.

"That is stunning to me. Those tar sands are going to either go west to China or south to the United States," Perry said, later adding "Buying Canadian crude and bringin' it in to the United States makes abundant good sense. And this president is putting American soldiers' lives in jeopardy with this as well as the security of America."

The Federal Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement approved an EXPLORATORY drilling permit in the Gulf for BP last month.

Reorganization of Title 30: Bureaus of Safety and Environmental Enforcement and Ocean Energy Management

This rule contains regulations that will be under the authority of two newly formed Bureaus, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), both within the Department of the Interior. On May 19, 2010, the Secretary of the Interior announced the separation of the responsibilities performed by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) (formerly the Minerals Management Service) into three new separate organizations: Office of Natural Resources Revenue (ONRR), Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), and Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE). Those regulations that will apply to the authority of BSEE organization will remain in 30 CFR chapter II, but be retitled “Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.” This rule removes from chapter II those regulations that will apply to the authority of BOEM and recodifies them into a new 30 CFR chapter V entitled “Bureau of Ocean Energy Management.”

Got that?

NEWT ANSWERS HIS ATTACKERS!

QUOTING A HIT PIECE ON NEWT FROM POLITICO:  http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1111/68728.html

Gingrich also confronts the oft-told story that he asked his first wife for a divorce while she was on her deathbed.

“This story is a vicious lie,” according to [Newt on his new] page. “It was first reported by a left-wing magazine in the 1980s based on heresay and has survived in left-wing chat rooms on the Internet until today. It is completely false.”

The page refers and links to a column one of Gingrich’s daughters wrote earlier this year about the incident.

“The column reveals that  1) It was her mother that requested the divorce, not Newt, and it was months before the hospital visit in question; 2) Her mother was in the hospital to remove a tumor, but it was benign, and she is still alive today; 3) Newt visited the hospital for the purpose of taking his two children to see their mother, not to discuss a divorce.”

AND A FOLLOW-UP PIECE – ALSO BY POLITICO:  http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1111/68728.html

“What these accusers are ignoring is that the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton were due to the fact that the president committed perjury in front of a sitting federal judge, which is a felony. As the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Newt felt that he had a duty to uphold the rule of law by pursuing impeachment. He stands by that decision today.”

The good news is - Newt has created a new website entitled:  ANSWERING THE ATTACKS:  SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT – NEWT’S POSITIONS ON THE ISSUES AND HIS RECORD

Read it and weep, Politico!

THE DEATH OF A UNIVERSITY....

Dean Edwards Smith is an icon in the state of North Carolina…. Smith is best known for his successful 36-year coaching tenure at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Smith coached from 1961 to 1997 and retired as the NCAA Division I men's basketball record-holder for victories (879), a record which was surpassed by Bob Knight in 2007 and Mike Krzyzewski in 2010. Smith has the 9th highest winning percentage of any men’s college basketball coach (77.6%).

Despite Smith’s leftist political leanings, I have a limitless admiration for this man.  If I had walked into an athletic facility and seen Dean Smith violating a young boy, I would have died trying to kill him on the spot.  Most likely he would have survived, and if I HAD SURVIVED, my first stop would have been the police station, and I would have made it my life’s work seeing that he spent the rest of HIS life behind bars.

In 2002, the Penn State assistant coach Mike McQueary saw what ‘he thought’ was Jerry Sandusky, a former assistant coach under Paterno,  having anal sex with a young boy in the shower in the football facility.

McQueary is a piece of shit and I will never understand why he didn’t kill Sandusky on the spot.  I will also never understand how he has been able to close his eyes at night after witnessing that act AND CALLING HIS FATHER to ask what to do!  May he roast in hell!

Penn State icon Joe Paterno was told about Sandusky, who founded a CHARITY TO HELP AT-RISK BOYS in 1977.  This was nothing more than his own personal shopping center for young boys to molest – a smorgasbord for his perverse proclivity for raping kids.  Paterno knew and gave his tacit approval by not calling the authorities.  Paterno is a piece of shit who deserves to be butt-fucked in hell forever.  University (fired) President Graham Spanier was told of these crimes and did nothing.  He is a piece of shit and should be bent over in hell next to Paterno.

Sandusky is receiving a $58,898 annual pension from Penn State for his ‘services’ .  Sandusky retired from his assistant coaching position in 1999, but retained coach "emeritus" status and access to Penn State facilities. Upon his retirement, he chose to take a $148,271 lump-sum pension payment from the State Employees' Retirement System.

I hope his ‘service’ includes life without chance of parole, sharing a cell with ‘Daddy’ in a remote corner of the nearest federal pen.

Athletic Director Tim Curley and senior vice president for finance and business Gary Schultz met with McQueary, who told them what he saw.  Curley and Schultz never report the incident to authorities.  Another pair of fucking scumbags who should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  This was in 2002.

Nine years later, this filthy scandal rises to the surface.  NINE YEARS!  Sandusky is ‘said’ to have molested 15 boys since 1977.  Anyone who thinks the number is only 15, please raise your hand.  And today, District Judge Leslie Dutchcot, who handled Sandusky's preliminary arraignment, gave his Second Mile charity between $500 and $1,000 and worked as a volunteer for the charity, freed Sandusky on $100,000 unsecured bail.  Sandusky went shopping.

None of the good old boys called the police.  Despicable!  Students are protesting Paterno’s firing.  Despicable!  .  The only people in State College, PA with anything approaching morals are the trustees of the University.

Below is a link to the timeline of this scandal, spanning from 1969 when Sandusky was hired, to this past week when Paterno and Spanier were fired.

If you have any questions, ask me what I REALLY think about this.

WAIT! WAIT! I TAKE THAT BACK!

Of all the noise of this week's state election results, what mattered most for Election 2012 came out of Virginia.  Every Republican incumbent—52 in the House, 15 in the Senate—won. The state GOP is looking at unified control over government for only the second time since the Civil War. This is after winning all three top statewide offices—including the election of Gov. Bob McDonnell—in 2009, and picking off three U.S. House Democrats in last year's midterms.  Yet Tuesday's results showed the extent to which that support has reversed. Loudoun in particular proved an unmitigated rout for Democrats. Republicans won or held three of four of the county's Senate seats. It swept all seven of the county's House seats. It won all nine slots on the county's Board of Supervisors, and pretty much every other county office. In Prince William, the story was much the same. This is what happens when a recent Quinnipiac poll shows Mr. Obama's approval rating among Virginia independents at 29%....Democrats are now arguing that turnout (about 30%) was too low to prove anything…

TONIGHT'S DEBATE............ AND IN THIS CORNER!!!!!

REPUBLICAN DEBATE  11/9/2011

Good start – lots of cheers, including for Cain…

DOW dropped 400 points because of Italy – what will you do to make sure their problems don’t take down OUR economy?

CAIN – must grow the economy; assure our currency is sound – cut spending – focus on the domestic economy – not a lot we can do for Italy now. (Great answer)

ROMNEY – should we allow Italy to fail?  Europe can take care of their own.  No we don’t need to bail out Euro banks OR American banks.  Will keep contributing to IMF and World Bank – but no bailouts (mediocre answer)

PAUL:  Let the banks fail.  Propping up prolongs the agony.  Liquidate the debt.  Bailouts prolong – Fannie and Freddie want more money… bailouts will only continue the problem. (Great answer)

HUNTSMAN:  How can we let Italy fail?  Our future is playing out in Europe – concerned we’re setting ourselves up to fail (so-so answer)

ROMNEY:  Called him out on being on all sides of the auto bailout issue – bam bam bam…. (Newt is standing next to him looking at him like he has two heads) said bailouts was wrong way to go – should have gone thru private bankruptcy.  Opponents claim Mitt keeps switching positions.  Mitt says he’s a man of consistency and constancy.  Attacks Obama on Afghan pullout – will never apologize.

PERRY:  You’ve criticized Romney – will you be flexible on tax increases?  Next president needs to send strong message – government will no longer pick winners and losers – if you are too big to fail, you are too big.

NEWT:  Question on unemployment – why is tax reform the path to job creation.  Bernanke problem and needs to be fired ASAP – audit Federal Reserve to learn who/why companies were bailed out and why others were not – contract with America – lower taxes, smaller government, American energy and letting the private sector create jobs.  GREAT ANSWER

BACHMANN:  same as Newt – we have second highest corporate tax in the world – capital is mobile and businesses left America – have to lower the tax rate – regulatory burdens like Obamacare and Dodd/Frank must go – need to build a fence on America’s southern border

SANTORUM:  You proposed a 0% tax on businesses.  Lower to zero for the manufacturing sector – government has made us un-competitive – will repeal every Obama regulation – clear message that America will compete – an energy policy that says we will produce energy in this country – cut out all subsidies (great answer)

CAIN:  People want leadership and character – 4 women have accused you or inappropriate behavior (crowd booed at questioner) American people deserve better than a candidate being tried in the court of public opinion.  (Cheers)  Last 9 days voters have spoken with their $$$ by supporting him.

ROMNEY:  You bought lots of companies – would you keep Cain on if you bought his company?  (BOOS FROM THE CROWD AT THE QUESTION)

HUNTSMAN:  OWC says people are too rich – what would you do about the protesters?  We will no longer bail out corporations.  We have banks too big to fail – have to fix regulatory environment – was Michigan auto bailout a mistake?  Bill will be $15 BILLION when this is over and that’s not a good use of taxpayer dollars.

ROMNEY:  do public companies have an obligation to create jobs?  Or is a corporation all about making money?  America needs profitable businesses that can grow, make money, expand – government is anti-business.

Can companies be profitable AND create jobs?

PERRY:  you bet – need a flag that says OPEN FOR BUSINESS AGAIN

NEWT:  of course – people need to have a clue about history – Henry Ford, Bill Gates – are they 99% or 1% - corporations create profits AND jobs and media doesn’t report it properly.  NAILED THE QUESTIONER – I have yet to hear one reporter ask an occupy person who will pay for this park you’re occupying if not for the corporations that make money?

SANTORUM ON SHALE:  Didn’t need the government to bail out shale mining.  Talked about unemployment – college educated @ 4-5% - non-college @ 15%.... need blue collar jobs.

CAIN:  tax rate higher on richer – 9/9/9 is the same rate for all – He will throw out current code – his plan is simple – transparent – fair  - HOW WILL YOU INSURE
PLAN DOESN’T BECOME 19/19/19 PLAN?  Taxes don’t raise taxes – politicians raise taxes

ROMNEY – you have no flat tax – why do you believe in a progressive system?  Starts saying he’d like some of everything – doesn’t talk about his tax ideas – starts talking about costs rising under Obama – focuses his tax breaks on middle-income Americans

BACHMANN:  Romney says preserve tax system – is he wrong?  Obama is wrong – he won’t go to job creators to find out how to create jobs – 47% pay NO taxes – in her plan EVERYONE pays something – creates a mentality that freedom is NOT free and all should sacrifice

PAUL:  Talk about closing agencies – lots to in private sector – tax is the disease – spending is the problem – cut $1 TRILLION from budget in first year – let the market determine the money supply (great answer)

================= first break
Crowd is very supportive of candidates and very derisive of questioners – there’s one guy who’s rabid in his questions – don’t know his name but he may stroke out before this is over!  Romney is getting the bulk of the time.  Cain and Newt are knocking their questions outta the park.  Perry looked good in his answers, but he’s low man on the time totem pole in the first round.  The questioners tried to get candidates to jump on Cain about his character and they didn’t take the bait – and the crowd was NOT happy with this tact

=================  returning…. Going to talk about solutions to the housing problems

Economists say we must have a recovery in the housing market.  4 million behind or in foreclosure – Romney says let the market play out  Is he right?

NEWT:  If house would repeal Dodd/Frank, housing market would start to improve overnight – change rules for short sale to make that better than a foreclosure – but solution is the economy must come back for the housing market to come back
ROMNEY:  your 59 point plan doesn’t mention housing – why?  Because it’s a jobs plan, not housing plan.  Have to get people back to work so they can pay for houses.  Do the opposite of what Obama has done to get the market going.  Get the government OUT of the housing market

PERRY:  GDP is negative – Perry replied ‘not in Texas’ because Texas has pulled back on regulations… CHEERS FROM THE CROWD… next president has to have the courage to repeal every regulation since 2008 – if it’s killing jobs, do away with it

BACHMANN:  We have to stop what we’re doing now.  90% of homes are now backed by Fannie/Freddie – who asked for $13 Billion more in bailouts…. And 10 top execs just got $10 million in bonuses – lunacy – let ‘em go bankrupt

NEWT:  Newt’s company got money from Freddie/Fannie – what did you do for the money?  I offered them advice on exactly what they DID NOT do – told them Obama’s plan was a bubble and would not work – need smaller institutions back in the private sector

CAIN:  what would you do with Freddie/Fannie?  Start with fixing the problem by getting the economy going; get rid of the uncertainty in taxes and reduce regulatory environment.  Make them private entities and get the government out of the banking business.

HUNTSMAN:  What would you do for banks too big to fail?  I didn’t understand his answer and he was very condescending – really didn’t answer –

What’s the answer if you repeal Obamacare?

HUNTSMAN:  Meet with all 50 governors and discuss cost containment – empower patients – better job on medical records  - let the free market work

PAUL:  get the government out of health care – turn it back to patients with medical savings accounts – care quality down/prices up – bipartisan mess

PERRY:  Medicare options to choose; doctors need incentives on health care vs. sick care; Medicaid back to the states and let them do that

CAIN:  HR 3000 – already written..  allows decisions to be with patients and doctors

ROMNEY:  States to care for their own uninsured – let individuals purchase their own insurance – get healthcare more market oriented; malpractice system needs to be overhauled

NEWT:  Colleagues have done a great job answering an absurd question – to say in 30 seconds what you’d do with 18% of the economy is ridiculous; get back to a doctor patient relationship; Medicaid back to states; increase brain science because most expensive care are long-term problems like Alzheimer’s

BACHMANN:  Allow Americans to shop nationwide for health insurance; medical malpractice liability reform; get rid of government bureaucracy in healthcare

SANTORUM:  Favors health savings accounts; proposed a block grant for Medicaid – reforming Medicare – getting government out of healthcare

OMG – Mitt’s hair is out of place!  We spend too much on healthcare – 18% of

GDP – asked him about Romneycare and government involvement

PAUL:  Trillion in cuts includes getting rid of 5 departments – started rambling about bailout – lost me after one sentence

================= second break
The questioners are getting contentious and the candidates are standing up to ‘em – it’s wonderful!  Again, Romney was the least impressive because he rambled – and Paul’s meds are starting to wear off – I swear, he gets nuttier as the night wears on – he has a problem focusing!  (I’m getting tired of typing!  Lol)

=============== back – will talk about balancing the budget, social security, and cutting the deficit

Blamed partisan politics on downgrade – how will you put the country above politics? (Question by Caterpillar exec)

SANTORUM:  His plan is to get people back to work and both sides want that, and it focuses on middle income families

ROMNEY:  Raised fees to get credit of MASS upgraded – will that float?  He had an 85% Democrat legislature to work with – both sides agree that we have to do what’s right for the country if they have a leader – this president is driven by getting re-elected

PERRY:  Caterpillar moved their stuff to Texas because of the pro-business climate there – Perry said he’d get rid of their departments but couldn’t think of but two – oops

CAIN:  Should Boeing shut down plant in SC?  ABSOLUTELY NOT – government should get out of business – if they understand it, they will demand it – that’s how you get the people to support it and push congress

Social security will soon be in the red – payroll tax cuts causing SS to go broke sooner than proposed – would you extend the payroll tax cut?

NEWT:  will not raise taxes on Americans in this economy – let people go to private accounts (YAAAAAAAAAAAAA) – country needs to pay the debt to the people who paid in to the system

ROMNEY:  We can’t keep spending like this and passing debt to children and grandchildren – we have to stop the spending – cut programs/redundant – send ‘em back to the states – bring management expertise to federal government – public servants need to get paid same as private sector – reduce gov’t employees by 10%

BACHMANN:  Opposed extending payroll tax cuts – says SSI is already in the red – money not flowing into trust fund because of the cuts

HUNTSMAN:  gov’t owns $500,000 in GM stock; fed reserve has purchased $3.6 Trillion in securities.  What would you do to fix this?  Obama has failed miserably.  People no longer trusts the government – need to have a flat tax; phase out loopholes and corporate welfare…

Student loans in the Trillions – tuition rates rising 3X faster than economy – how would you make college more accessible?

PAUL:  Policy of student loans is a failure.  Get rid of loan programs and Dept. of Ed. – need competition and to get the government out – audit the Fed and then END the Fed - good answer

NEWT:  New Model:   End of welfare state, dependency, debt and dishonesty – taking fewer hours, staying longer in school – work/study colleges

What would you cut for long-term deficit?

PERRY:  Entitlements and spending and health care.  SSI needs to be reformatted.  Gov’t shouldn’t be in the business of loans –

================= last break

Cali hired China to build bridge parts – right or wrong?

CAIN:    LOL – wrong, and under 9/9/9  (laughter) the playing field is leveled and more competitive – tax code sends jobs overseas and that will change
ROMNEY: China isn’t playing fair – China is cheating but free trade is good for us – China stealing intellectual property and manipulating their currency – will crack down on cheaters like China

NEWT:  We aren’t getting a fair shake selling in China.. what to do?  Would love to hear Huntsman on this?  Why is it cheaper to go to China – we need to raise the pain level for China cheating –

HUNTSMAN:  Complicated relationship – tariffs=trade war=bad idea.  Have to negotiate ideas…… sucky answer…… is Mitt pandering?  Uhhhh yes

ROMNEY:  I’m a businessman – we can compete.  Le the currency float

BACHMANN:  China has dumped counterfeit computer chips and we’re using some in DOD computers.  We’re in hock to the Chinese.  Stop enriching China by stopping borrowing

CAIN:  (questions from viewer)  Stock market is a casino with computers making 70% of transactions – how to make stock market safer for the little guy??  Restore faith in businesses – volatility is being driven by uncertainty – GROW THE
ECONOMY – Cain has a wonderful sense of humor!  LOL

Line of the night from CAIN – three problems with Dodd/Frank bill 1:  provides no oversight for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae; 2:  Dodd   3:  Frank (huge applause and cheering)

Is Perry guilty of crony capitalism?

PAUL:  Don’t know about Perry but lots of it going on in this country.

=================== end of the debate

AND THE WINNER IS:  HERMAN CAIN - he came out of the blocks like he was the leader of the pack, acted like it all night, was undaunted with the moderators' attempts to spear him on the character issues, and he closed out the evening with the quote of the debate - OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

TIME FOR A LITTLE 9-DAY JAUNT THRU THE SOUTH PACIFIC…

HRH Obama will leave the G-20 today amid reports that he’s saved Europe from financial collapse (in his DREAMS), headed for an Asia-Pacific Economic Council to be held in Honolulu Nov. 12-13, and on to an 18-nation East Asia Summit in Bali on November 19.  These ‘summits’ will be squeezed in between visits to Australia and Indonesia.  (It’s good to be king).  Obama will be out of town when the congressional super committee’s report is due – that’s the one that’s going to save the AMERICAN economy.

Michelle will be joining him.  This is a return visit for the Obama’s, who visited the Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta LAST November.  [Michelle, whose lavish wasteful use of government resources had escaped MSM attention, is starting to come under scrutiny.  Among other things for the $10 million in travel expenses attributable to her last year alone.]  The White House has yet to release Michelle’s exact schedule or the cost of her and her entourage flying separately to the other side of the world.

As soon as the king and queen return to DC, it will be time for the family Christmas vacation…. Oh dear, the trials and tribulations of such a full calendar.

CAIN-GINGRICH DEBATE

This was an amazing discussion - two gentlemen discussing that is really wrong with this country and their solutions.... there were no personal attacks, it was humorous and sincere, and the crowd loved it, as did I

If you're interested, here's the link - it ran about 90 minutes.  A Gingrich/Cain ticket would rock - Obama wouldn't have a chance.  I only put Newt at the top because of his political acumen, but either man would mop the floor with Obama

CAIN AND GINGRICH DEBATE TONIGHT AT 8:00 EASTERN ON C-SPAN

The long-form format of the Cain-Gingrich debate will consist of only three or four basic questions, a moderator who will try to stay out of the picture and a great deal of crossdiscussion. The debate will focus on federal entitlement spending — on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Gingrich will be specifically required to defend his criticism — later retracted — of U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan to reduce a $14 trillion deficit. Cain will be required to explain the intricacies of his “9-9-9” plan — a measure that includes a 9 percent corporate tax rate, a 9 percent personal income tax rate and a 9 percent national sales tax.

A FEW PROMISING TIDBITS FROM NORTH CAROLINA

There is a run-off election next week for the last AND DECIDING seat on the Wake County School Board.  The prior election had resulted in three conservatives being swept off the school board and replaced with (out-of-state union backed) liberals who pledged to return the county to bussing-for-diversity. (Those who lost had run on and implemented a ‘community school’ agenda to minimize bussing.)  One seat has a run-off next Tuesday and the Republican has raised twice as much money as the Democrat.  That sounds positive…. And the election may be so small that the unions won’t throw vast sums of money into it.  (N.C. is NOT a union state).

The second bit of promising news is that Pat McCrory, former Republican mayor of Charlotte, will again run against dingbat Bev Perdue in the 2012 gubernatorial election.  A fundraiser this past weekend, - which raised more than $55,000 - took place at the home of George Jones, a former mayor of Jacksonville and a one-time Perdue supporter.
"It's absolutely nothing personal," said Jones, a registered Democrat who helped get Hunt elected. Jones estimated that one-third of the 40 people at the fundraiser were Democrats. "Bev has swung hard to the left," he continued. "I can't support her policies and the direction she's pursuing for this state."  Stay tuned‼‼

THE REALLY BIG NEWS IS:  The U.S. Justice Department approved North Carolina's new voting maps Tuesday night, taking away a major roadblock to next year's elections but leaving open the door to new lawsuits.
The Republicans WON BOTH HOUSES OF THE LEGISLATURE in 2010 – first time since 1898 (yep – 1898 – that’s NOT a typo). Immediately after that election, good old Bev suggested a bi-partisan committee to draw up the districts (N.C. picked up an additional district after the 2010 census). Yeah, Bev, like you Democrats did the last 110 years?  ROFL! – nice try!  Not gonna happen!

In what one analyst called a "bonanza" for Republicans nationally, North Carolina's GOP lawmakers proposed new voting districts Friday that would make it significantly harder for four Democratic congressmen to keep their seats.

The proposed map would threaten Democratic Reps. Larry Kissell in the 8th District, Heath Shuler in the 11th and Brad Miller in the 13th. Democrat Mike McIntyre's 7th District also would grow more Republican.

Democrats now hold a 7-6 edge in the state's delegation. The new map could put up to four more seats in Republican hands.

SUUUUUUUUU-WEEEEEEEEEET!

OBAMA'S SOLAR PROBLEMS CONTINUE TO GROW

The ONLY reason you are not seeing this [or GUNRUNNER] in the news, is because Obama continues to fan the flames of class envy with the idiots in the bogus OWS movement TO KEEP THE REAL NEWS OFF THE FRONT PAGES - and the press is totally complicit in burying these scandals!

======================================================

This administration definitely has a problem that should be of growing concern to all.  Here are updates (in red) of the notorious and not so notorious solar company issues facing an administration that hung its hat and credibility on 'green' energy.  Some are quite incestuous.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
8/15/2011:  ASCENT SOLAR TECHNOLOGIES - On Monday, struggling solar thin-film maker Ascent Solar Technologies said it plans to sell a stake in the company and license its technology to Chinese conglomerate TFG Radiant Group. TFG Radiant Group promises to spend roughly $165 million to build a factory in China [1]

10/31/2011:  Beacon Power Corp., a Massachusetts company that received a $43 million Energy Department loan guarantee last year, filed for bankruptcy Sunday (10/30/2011) - a step certain to fuel criticism of federal green energy financing in the wake of the solar company Solyndra’s collapse.  Beacon Power Corporation develops energy storage systems.

Beacon Power had received federal loan guarantee to help build an energy storage plant in Stephentown, New York that began operating in January. The Treasury Department’s Federal Financing Bank provided the loan. [13]

Beacon Power drew down $39 million of its government-guaranteed loan to fund a portion of a $69 million, 20-megawatt flywheel energy storage plant in Stephentown, New York.

There are several key differences between the two loans, an Energy Department spokesman said on Sunday, noting the Beacon plant continues to operate, unlike Solyndra, which shut down shortly before filing for bankruptcy.

Beacon currently operates at a loss and its revenues are not enough to support its operations, it said in court documents. The case is Beacon Power Corp, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Delaware, No. 11-13450. [17]

3/27/2010:  BP SOLAR - BP will close its solar-panel manufacturing plant in Frederick MD, the final step in moving its solar business out of the United States to facilities in China, India and other countries.  Just 3-1/2 years ago, in an announcement widely hailed by Maryland officials and promoters of "green jobs," BP unveiled a $70 million plan to double output at the facility and erected a building to house the production lines.  But on Friday the company said it would lay off 320 workers and keep only a hundred people involved in research, sales and project development. [7]  BP Solar received $11,670,754 in tax credits in January, 2010 [4]

9/16/2011: CALISOLAR, INC. - Calisolar Inc., a solar manufacturer that withdrew its application for a U.S. Energy Department loan guarantee, is firing 23 percent of its workforce as it shifts its business model.

Closely held Calisolar is firing 80 people at a solar-cell plant and will focus on manufacturing polysilicon used to make the cells, the Sunnyvale, California-based company said today in an e-mailed statement. Calisolar has 350 employees, according to its website.

The job cuts come as solar manufacturers are struggling with foreign competition and plummeting prices for their products. Prices for solar cells have dropped 43 percent in the past year, and solar-panel manufacturers Evergreen Solar Inc., SpectraWatt Inc. and Solyndra LLC have filed for bankruptcy in the past month. [8]  Calisolar received a tax credit in January, 2010 of $51,563,980  [4]

8/15/2011:  EVERGREEN SOLAR - Evergreen Solar Inc., the Massachusetts clean-energy company that received millions in state subsidies from the Gov. Deval Patrick administration for an ill-fated Bay State factory, has filed for bankruptcy, listing $485.6 million in debt. Greg Bialecki, Patrick’s economic development czar, defended the administration’s support for the once-promising Evergreen. The state is still trying to recoup about $4 million in cash from the Marlboro-based company. [2]

Evergreen, which closed its taxpayer-supported Devens factory in March and cut 800 jobs, has been trying to rework its debt for months. The cash-strapped company announced today has sought a reorganization in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware and reached a deal with certain note holders to restructure its debt and auction off assets [2]

8/15/2011:  FIRST SOLAR, INC. – First Solar reported lackluster second-quarter financial results. The company’s net income dived 61.6 percent down to $61.1 million from $159 million in the same quarter a year ago. That led to earnings of $0.70 per share, down 63 percent from $1.84 per share a year ago.

At the same time, sales dropped 9.4 percent to $532.8 million from $587.9 million during the same period.  [1] First Solar received a tax credit in January, 2010 of  $16,320,000 [4]  First Solar, an American company, is one of the world’s largest solar power vendors. But most of its products are made overseas.  [16]

10/8/2011:  GRANITE RELIABLE POWER:  Owners of Zuccotti Park Recently Received $135 Million in Tax Money for Wind Farm…New Hampshire’s largest wind farm, the Granite Reliable Power project under construction in Coos County, is jointly owned by BAIF Granite Holdings, LLC and Freshnet Wind Energy, LLC. BAIF owns 75 percent of Granite Reliable. BAIF Granite Holdings was created earlier this year by Brookfield Renewable Power, which is a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management of New York.

That company, which runs clean energy operations around the world, has deep pockets. It reported net income of $454 million in 2009 and $3.2 billion in 2010. Brookfield Renewable Power financed the creation of BAIF Granite Holdings from its Brookfield Americas Infrastructure fund, which was reported in February to have $2.7 billion in assets. With that kind of backing, it is curious that the U.S. Department of Energy announced it would guarantee up to 80 percent of a $168.9 million loan for the Granite Reliable wind farm project last week.

Now why does a company worth billions need taxpayer funding for some green energy project? Something surely smells here. Let's see: They opened the park in mid-September, and magically on September 23, here's a windfall of taxpayer cash.  You'll never guess who lobbies for Brookfield. The firm of Oldaker, Biden & Belair, founded by Joe Biden's son. Well, isn't that a cozy relationship? [15]

9/16/2011:  LIGHTSQUARED - LightSquared Scandal Explodes.  Allegations… first made in February about White House political favors for a company called LightSquared are starting to get the attention they deserve.  It’s being reported that Obama was an early investor in LightSquared, before he became president

… The White House is facing accusations that it tried to pressure an Air Force general to change his testimony on the GPS interference issue.  The accusation that Gen. William Shelton was pressured came at the same time the White House was attempting to explain its role in the awarding of $500-million loan guarantee to now-bankrupt Solyndra, in which billionaire Obama bundler George Kaiser was a major investor. [5]  Julius Genachowski, another former Obama fundraiser and big party donor who was named to head the FCC, was called to testify before Congress about fast-tracking waivers to LightSquared, but he refused to appear, said Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) [12]

10/7/2011:  LightSquared and its backer, Philip Falcone's Harbinger Capital, is facing rising political heat over its national LTE plans, to add to its problems with GPS interference. Iowa senator Charles Grassley, the ranking Republican on the US Senate Judiciary Committee, has called for the companies to make public all records of their communications with White House officials, amid accusations that campaign contributions to the Democrats influenced the FCC's decision to give the green light to LightSquared - despite the dangers of disruption to GPS services. [12]

9/7/2100:  SOLARWORLD - Major Solar Manufacturer SolarWorld Shuts Down California Solar Module Factory, Cuts Workforce in Germany.  It plans to lay off 186 employees at the end of October, more than half of its local workforce.  Employees at SolarWorld Industries America were told Tuesday they were being let go, said spokesman Ben Santarris. They will receive pay and benefits through Oct. 28, plus severance pay. Outplacement services also will be provided." [3] SolarWorld received a tax credit in January, 2010 or $82.5 BILLION. [4]

8/16/2011:  SOLON SOLAR - German solar maker Solon announced that it will shutter a Tucson, Ariz. panel factory and cut 60 jobs.  The news is yet another sign that competition from Chinese solar manufacturers and low costs of panels are leading to consolidation in the solar manufacturing industry. Combine that with declining solar subsidies in key European markets such as Italy and Germany, and sales for many solar companies have been significantly disrupted. [1]

9/12/2011:  SOLYNDRA – In May, 2010, accounting firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP warned that Solyndra, the recipient of $535 million in federal loan guarantees, had financial troubles deep enough to “raise substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern.”

The Obama administration stood by Solyndra through the auditor’s warning, the abandonment of a planned initial public offering and a last-ditch refinancing where taxpayers took a back seat to new investors. That unwavering commitment has come under increasing scrutiny since the company’s travails culminated in its filing for bankruptcy protection on Sept. 6 and a raid on its headquarters by the Federal Bureau of Investigation two days later. [6] Billionaire Obama bundler George Kaiser was a major investor. [5]

A second top fundraiser for President Barack Obama was linked to a federal loan guarantee program that backed Solyndra.  Steve Spinner, who helped monitor the Energy Department’s issuance of $25 billion in government-backed loans to renewable energy projects, was one of Obama’s top fundraisers in 2008 and is raising money for the president’s 2012 re-election campaign.  [10]  Spinner’s wife’s law firm represented Solyndra, Inc.  Spinner was named an advisor to Energy Secretary Steven Chu and was charged with helping oversee a loan guarantee program authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the economic stimulus program.  In the Solyndra scandal, the White House pressured the U.S. Department of Energy to provide a half-billion dollar grant to a financially questionable solar energy company in pursuit of the president’s agenda for “green” technology.  [11]

The Energy Department also had agreed to restructure Solyndra's debt in a last-ditch effort to keep the company alive, a deal which put taxpayers behind $75 million in private investment. Did Obama campaign donors who were investors in Solyndra play a role in decisions on the loan?  -- allegations denied by the White House and Department of Energy (DOE). [17]
[and herein lies the illegality with Solyndra (and finally being investigated by Congress)  – NEVER EVER are the interests of the OWNERS put first in a bankruptcy‼!]

8/26/2011:  SPECTRAWATT, INC. - New York-based solar company SpectraWatt Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection this week - the second US solar company to do so this month.  Like Evergreen Solar which filed last week, SpectraWatt blames increasing competition from low-cost manufacturers in China and the falling prices of solar panels, caused by an oversupply on the market and a dip in the pace of solar installations. [9]

10/30/2011:  SAN DIEGO, Sep 30, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Canadian Solar, Inc. acquired all capital equipment of SpectraWatt, Inc. for $4.945 million at the court-ordered public auction held Wednesday, September 28, in front of a live audience and broadcast over the internet from the SpectraWatt facility at the Hudson Valley Research Park in Hopewell Junction, NY. At approximately 1:30 pm EDT, Ross Dove, Managing Partner of Heritage Global Partners let the hammer fall, awarding Canadian Solar, Inc. all capital assets in a single lot, subject to US Bankruptcy Court final sale approval, scheduled for Thursday, October 6th. [18]

8/15/2011:  SUNPOWER - SunPower widened its second-quarter losses to $147.9 million, or $1.51 per share, from $6.2 million, or $0.07 per share, for the year-ago quarter. At the same time, SunPower reported $592.3 million in revenue for the third quarter, up 54 percent from $384.2 million in the year-ago period.  [1]  SunPower received $10.8 BILLION in tax credits.  [4]

10/11/2011:  SUNPOWER UPDATE:  How did a failing California solar company, buffeted by short sellers and shareholder lawsuits, receive a $1.2 billion federal loan guarantee for a photovoltaic electricity ranch project—three weeks after it announced it was building new manufacturing plant in Mexicali, Mexico, to build the panels for the project.

The company, SunPower (SPWR-NASDAQ), now carries $820 million in debt, an amount $20 million greater than its market capitalization.  If SunPower was a bank, the feds would shut it down.  Instead, it received a lifeline twice the size of the money sent down the Solyndra drain.

Two men with insight into the process are SunPower rooter Rep. George R. Miller III, (D.-Calif.), the senior Democrat on the House Education and Workforce Committee and the co-chairman of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, and his SunPower lobbyist son, George Miller IV. [14]
